Whiteware disposal – pile of scrap white laundry machines ready for whiteware recycling.

How to recycle your Whiteware

Whiteware is often enormous and cumbersome to get rid of. When it comes to whiteware disposal, the question that many Kiwis have is often “how?” While great places like us will buy it from you, some just take it but don’t pay you for it, and others flat out refuse to take it.

The good thing about whiteware recycling with us here at Endless is that you will most likely get paid something when doing so. It might not be much, as the value of scrap metal in whiteware is often fairly low, but any cash is better than no cash, right? So whether you are upgrading your appliances or renovating your house, or you just have some old whiteware lying around that needs to go, bring it into one of our depots so we can take it off your hands.

If you can’t be bothered making the trip yourself, there are often people on your community Facebook pages that will collect it for free to scrap themselves. However, that means they’ll get paid and not you. But it’s your choice!

How do I recycle my whiteware?

Our goal for recycling whiteware is to make the process as simple and seamless as possible. You bring it to one of our drop-off locations, and we’ll weigh it and then pay you for that appliance. We don’t do pick-ups for whiteware disposal, as the value of the scrap metal is usually much less than the cost it would be for us to transport it, and we don’t want to leave you out of pocket.

Types of whiteware you can recycle are:

  • Washing machines
  • Dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • Stoves/Ovens
  • Heat Pumps
  • Air conditioning units
  • Microwaves

Why should we recycle whiteware?

Whiteware has many components that can be reused or recycled; these components can be harmful if disposed of incorrectly, so recycling is the right thing to do. It’s best to leave those components for the experts to dispose of. Also, by recycling your whiteware and not sending it to landfills, you are helping perpetuate the circular economy by reducing the need for more metal mining. It all comes full circle, and playing your part is crucial.
