Clean means aluminium that\u2019s not mixed with steel (or any other metal, for that matter) and has no contaminants, like wood, glass, or plastic. The cleaner the aluminium, the higher the grade and therefore the price. Aluminium is weighed and paid for by the kilogram.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner enable_multi_column_padding=&#8221;1&#8243;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"167\" data-end=\"606\"><strong data-start=\"167\" data-end=\"189\">Domestic aluminium<\/strong> includes any scrap aluminium that isn\u2019t extruded or cast and has minimal contamination. That means a small amount of oil, plastic, dirt, grease, paint, or anodised finishes is okay. You\u2019ll usually find this in pots, roof sheeting, ladders, guttering, boats, some car bonnets, and window frames with rivets or screws. To qualify as domestic, your aluminium can be slightly \u2018dirty\u2019\u2014like a ladder with joins and rivets.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"983\"><strong data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"631\">Aluminium extrusion<\/strong> usually comes from off-cuts or damaged raw material from aluminium joinery factories. It appears in different forms\u2014powder coated, anodised, or mill finished. To be considered extrusion, the material must be clean of any non-aluminium attachments. That means no steel bolts, plastic, screws, or other impurities. Otherwise, we\u2019ll grade it as domestic.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"985\" data-end=\"1384\"><strong data-start=\"985\" data-end=\"1003\">Aluminium clip<\/strong> refers to new, unused aluminium sheets made from manufacturing off-cuts. These must be completely clean, free from paint or anodising, and uncontaminated by other materials. If you\u2019ve got a boat or car motor, water meter, lawnmower, or even venetian blinds, we usually grade these as <strong data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1307\">irony aluminium<\/strong>\u2014that\u2019s aluminium mixed mostly with steel\u2014and it falls under <strong data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1383\">mixed metal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1974&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Not sure of the value of your scrap aluminium? First things first, separate your metals so they\u2019re not graded as mixed. If you\u2019ve got some items that are alloys (that is a mix of aluminium with another metal), set them aside from the clean aluminium.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to selling domestic aluminium, most yards will not allow more than 5% contaminants. Make sure your aluminium is in shipshape condition by removing any steel, plastic, and wooden attachments. There are a few more things you can do to make more money from your aluminium scrap, depending on what you\u2019ve got, so let\u2019s get into the nitty-gritty&#8230;[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner enable_multi_column_padding=&#8221;1&#8243;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"148\" data-end=\"335\"><strong data-start=\"148\" data-end=\"162\">Mag wheels<\/strong><br data-start=\"162\" data-end=\"165\" \/>Remove the tyres before bringing in your mag wheels\u2014otherwise, we\u2019ll grade them as irony aluminium. Hot tip: take off valves and wheel weights too to get the best return.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"337\" data-end=\"546\"><strong data-start=\"337\" data-end=\"354\">Window frames<\/strong><br data-start=\"354\" data-end=\"357\" \/>We\u2019ll accept aluminium window frames with glass still intact, but we\u2019ll apply a waste deduction for the glass disposal. For the best return, remove the glass safely before bringing them in.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"337\" data-end=\"546\"><strong data-start=\"548\" data-end=\"566\">Aluminium wire<\/strong><br data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"569\" \/>You\u2019ll mostly find aluminium wire or cable in large electrical setups like power grids and industrial sites. Strip off any plastic PVC to boost the value\u2014cleaner wire means a higher grade.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"759\" data-end=\"940\"><strong data-start=\"759\" data-end=\"778\">Aluminium swarf<\/strong><br data-start=\"778\" data-end=\"781\" \/>These dry shavings or trimmings (often from joinery factory cuttings) need to be clean.
